Key Account Manager On-Trade London


Reports to: Sales Manager
Salary: TBD (depending on experience)
Location: Field Based

Responsible for account management of a portfolio of regional key account groups in London. Management of a free trade accounts in postcode territory – with outlet focus based on the business brand segmentation model. Activates brands by implementing activation programmes in key outlets within a territory, recruiting consumers whilst improving distribution and visibility.

Key Responsibilities & Critical Success Measures:

  • Working with minimum supervision, manage a core number of accounts within a territory to deliver the on-trade brand building plan and activation programme. Giving examples of activation, perfect serve, sampling, tailored competitions, menu presence, permanent unique brand visibility.
  • Achieve preferred partner status with key outlets by developing tailored solutions to meet consumer needs and establishing expert status through advice on the spirits category, proposing range by segmentation.
  • Deliver brand training modules to educate bar professionals and utilise Brand Managers and or Sales Managers to supplement this as appropriate.
  • Record relevant outlet information via technology provided. In all outlets: record outlet information, activation and deliver appropriate presentations.
  • Manage budgets to deliver KPI targets e.g. pouring accounts, menu presence, listings, activation, incentives
  • Identifying opportunities via market intelligence and networking with customers to enable the targeting of the right consumers.
  • Effectively plan and manage the working day to ensure coverage is achieved at key trading times of customers. This will involve evening work and a requirement to live within reasonable travelling distance of the core area.
  • Ensure that customers are equipped to serve and promote the brand to consumers and enable them to become champions/ambassadors for our brands.

  • Broad knowledge of UK on-trade and strong commercial experience ideally with a Spirits background.
  • Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of brand building with the ability to balance commercial delivery.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Experience of activating brands in the on-trade is essential.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Strong understanding of balance between commercial delivery and brand building agenda.
  • Strong IT skills and able to use data to interpret insights.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience at delivering training / presentations.
  • Previous experience in sales or marketing is desirable.
  • Experience working in a premium venue as a bartender is desirable.
  • Ideally educated to degree level.

Brand Development Manager - London

Role and Responsibilities

The key aspect of the role is to develop Hi-Spirits brands across the independent free trade and regional key accounts by leveraging relationships with specified route to market customers including:

  • On-trade accounts
  • Off-trade accounts
  • Wholesalers

Within this remit, the employee will be expected to:

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business within existing accounts.
  • Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organisation.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s practice leaders/Principals.
  • Plan approaches and pitches.
  • Work with teams to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Participate in pricing the solution/service.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
  • Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Experience – Minimum 3-5 years service in the food and drink industry / good knowledge of relationships between brands, wholesalers and bars plus some knowledge of Spirits and management/supervisory experience.

Focused – positive attitude, self-starter and has specific ideas on how they would approach the role. Persistence is a good quality to have as well as this can make the difference between a sale or a fail.

Reliable – must be consistent and show evidence of adhering to deadlines.

Communication – Must be able to communicate coherently and professionally with co-workers, managers and customers in a variety of environments.

Additional requirements:

Good connections within the London bar industry – respected personality ideally.

The candidate should also be comfortable cold calling presenting and delivering training / tasting sessions.

Some degree of spirits production and cocktail knowledge would be advantageous, but not essential.

Preferred Skills

An enthusiasm for spirits and a drive to grow business using creative means will be advantageous in this role. A working knowledge of cocktails will also be looked upon favourably. Strong presentation skills are also desirable.

Brand Development Manager - East of England and Home Counties

Within this remit, the employee will be expected to:

Off-Trade National Account Manager

Location – home based

Reports to – Off-Trade Controller

Description

Hi-Spirits is one of the UK’s leading spirit distributors and is seeking to expand their Off-Trade team following ongoing sales growth and recent acquisitions.

As the Off-Trade National Account Manager you will be responsible for managing a selection of high profile off-trade national accounts and delivering activations across a portfolio of exciting brands including Southern Comfort, Buffalo Trace and Fireball; this is a fantastic opportunity to be a key contributor to the development and execution of our growth-driving plans in the UK.

Using your commercial acumen, creativity and collaboration you will be responsible for creating, managing and executing customer Joint Business Plans to achieve our sales, profit and distribution targets across multiple brands and outlets. You will have the ability to develop tailored customer plans that address key category and shopper insights.

You will develop annual promotional plans for each brand to grow sales and market share within our key Off-Trade customers including multiple grocers and specialist off-trade outlets. Leveraging a detailed understanding of our customers, you will work closely with Brand Managers to lead and deliver commercial activation plans within the Off-Trade.

This role is home based but it is essential that you are out seeing customers and collaborating with the wider team at our Head Office in Walton-On-Thames. The customers you are responsible for will be predominantly based in London and the South East.

We are looking for a passionate and driven individual who has extensive understanding of the UK Off-Trade market. Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have worked within the FMCG/ alcoholic beverages industry with Sales or Customer Marketing experience.

  • Off-Trade sales, account management or activation experience within an FMCG environment
  • Experience in building collaborative relationships with customers
  • Ability to manage customer P&Ls and budgets
  • Must demonstrate commercial acumen and understanding of compiling and managing JBPs
  • Project Management skills to successfully plan, manage and prioritise tasks across multiple projects
  • Experience of developing and delivering compelling customer presentations
  • Passion for spirits and alcohol with extensive knowledge of the UK Off-Trade landscape
