Don José Valera Blanco built the first sugar mill in Panama in 1908, but it didn’t take long for his sons to convince him to develop it into a distillery. Ron Abuelo grow and cultivate all of their own sugar cane, allowing them to keep tight control over the whole production ensuring the quality is always high.

Using estate-grown sugar cane, Abuelo 12 year is aged to perfection in small oak barrels. The select few barrels used, produce a smoothness and complexity which fulfils the most sophisticated palate.
A sweet aroma with generous hints of wood leads to a full bodied palate of dark fruits and nutmeg spice.
